Mole 2013

This is the last of the Imagined Buildings series before I started to play around with portraiture. ‘Mole’ is an Italian word for a building of epic proportions and this drawing was directly influenced by my work in the Museum sector and the Mole Antonelliana building in Turin, Italy. This building, originally designed by a megalomaniac architect as the worlds tallest synagogue (and tallest place of worship) is the worlds tallest museum as of 2017. When I composed this drawing in 2013, an imaginary museum was the main focus. Inside this vast museum I thought it would be good to have a museum of full sized architecture, so the worlds tallest museum is dwarfed by my imaginary edifice.

Inside the museum are allusions to contemporary culture, in a similar way to ‘Experienced II’.
