London

This is an A3 drawing of an imaginary cross section through a megastructure whose shape is the same as that of the Greater London map. Like all of these pieces, the map is vertical and represents a museum where the viewer can follow the maze and learn about the different layers of London history. This map is unique in that the start point is the centre, roughly where the Tower of London stands. One of the challenges of this piece, indeed the entire maps project is to situate landmarks in their respective locations whilst also incorporating a chronological maze.

The follower or viewer can either view the drawing as a whole or follow the intricate maze through the structure, where they discover the Great Fire of London, then the Monument. They then past lesser known secrets that the city offers (the first steam powered bus being one example) which are mostly drawn at the same 1:500 scale.
